Itinerary Week-end in Naples

Following you can find the itinerary that will allow you to visit the principal destinations of the city of Naples if you stay only in the city a day. We take as point of departure, Naples Piazza Garibaldi, site of the Napoli Central station and terminal of  all buses for reaching the city center. The tour finishes in Victoria Plaza, important Bus station, where you will find connections to return in Piazza Garibaldi or for reaching the various Subway stops. Then we depart immediately in entering in the heart of Napoli historical center, affiliate in the list of the world Patrimony of the UNESCO, a complex so rich of monuments and art to be defined an Open Museum. From Piazza Garibaldi we proceed to the Course Umberto, points of reference of the Neapolitan shopping. When we arrive in Piazza Nicola Amore we turn to right in going in Via Duomo. Here we can find The Duomo or St. Gennaro church  (A), in which we can find the relics and the containing cruet the blood of the Saint and the underground basilica opened by few to the Public. Adjacent to the Cathedral we find the Chapel of St. Gennaro’s treasure, where you can admire the treasures left in devotion to the Saint from Noble, Popes, illustrious men and common people. After this first stop continue in Via dei Tribunali  where we will find S. Lorenzo Church, St. Paul Maggiore Church and St. Gregorio Armeno Church with relative monastery (B-C). This place is particularly famous for the Christmas market among the most beautiful and interesting in the world. The shops are open all year long and on the benches of the shepherds you can find the classical characters of the manger and the protagonists of  politics and showbiz. If you have 2 hours available, I recommend you an excursion in the Naples Underground city to discover the burrows rich in histories and legends. We continue in via dei Tribunali and we reach St. Severe Chapel where you can admire one among the most suggestive and interesting works in the world artistic patrimony, the “Christ Velato” created by Joseph Sanmartino. To have an idea of the extraordinariness of the work we remember The famous artist Antonio Canova, who declared that he would have been ready to give ten years of his life to be the author of this masterpiece. We leave St. Severe Chapel and we go to Via San Biagio dei Librai, known also with name “Spaccanapoli”, where we can admire the St. Domenico Maggiore(E) church  the Jesus's Nuovo church (F), where we find St. Joseph Moscati’s  relics and the famous Saint Chiara monastery (G). We Continue our visit in Spaccanapoli reaching Toledo street(H),other point of reference of Neapolitan shopping. We continue our walk in Toledo street, where we can taste great specialty in the  good  confectioneries and ice cream shop. By Toledo street we reach the Umberto Gallery (I), famous commercial gallery built in Naples among 1887 and 1880. By the various gallery exits you can reach the Castle Maschio Angioino (J), St. Charles Street (K), where you can find the homonym theater and Piazza Plebiscito (L) place of the many important Shows organized in the city. In this zone we find 2 places that have signed the history of the Neapolitan Bella Epoque the Margherita saloon, sets under the Gallery Umberto and the Café Gambrinus. We continue our Tour reaching in Piazza Plebiscito the Royal Palace, built from the Spanish King around 1600. The tour sets out to the end, we continue toward the famous Saint Lucy street (M-N) reaching the Borgo marinaro and Castel dell’Ovo (O),  the most ancient in the city after Castel Capuano. You have the time to eat something special in one of the good restaurants of Borgo Marinaro from which you can admire the most beautiful panorama in the world. Before reaching Victoria Plaza (Q), where you can catch bus  for all the destinations of the city, we recommend you to walk along the splendid Caracciolo Street (P).
